Brad Renfro, best known for his role in “Apt Pupil” was found dead last night in his LA home. While the cause of death has not been released, it is known that Brad had a history of drug use. I hope it wasn’t an OD. Brad just finished filming “The Informers” with Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thorton and Kim Basinger.
I love it when celebs do good things out of the public eye. It’s so much easier to trust! And in the case of Johnny Depp, there have been several that have just come to light.
Last may his daughter Lily Rose was treated at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for E. coli blood poisoning, and spent nine days recovering there. Depp is so happy his daughter is healthy, he’s been giving back to the hospital ever since!
Last November (the 29th to be exacty) Depp spent four hours reading stories in the children’s ward, dressed as Jack Sparrow, after having his costume flown over to London from Hollywood! He invited five of the doctors and nurses to attend the London premiere of Sweeney Todd (presumably these were the doctors and nurses that helped his daughter).
The kicker, however? Depp and longtime partner Vanessa Paradis donated $1M to the hospital, with Disney donating another $10M. The hospital needs to raise $170M over the next five years, in order to re-develop the hospital (which is in need of repair and revamping), so these donations will go a long way.

While I really want this whole thing to be false, something in it says it might be true. Apparently amongst the presents Angie and Brad sent his brother (Rob) and sister-in-law (Julie) for their kids for the holidays was Ghost Squad, a rather violent video game. And Julie was so upset she sent the game back to them with a note on it that said, “We don’t promote violence in our home.”
I love the way Julie handled the situation (if it’s real), but the whole thing worries me. I know Angie lets her kids play with toy guns, even hosting a military-themed party for Mad’s sixth birthday. And Angie’s had her share of press moments where she’s talked about her penchant for knives and such.
But with all the work she does for the UNHRC, trying to help people in war-torn countries, you’d think she’d want her children to grow up without that sort of stuff in their lives. The guns, the promotion of violence.
We know for a fact, however, that she exposes her children to these things, so it wouldn’t be above the realm of reason for her to give a violent game like that to someone for the holidays. I’m just suprised that after two years of being with Brad she wouldn’t know that, wouldn’t be more sensitive to their family rules and lifestyle. Which is why I hope this story isn’t true.
I love this story! Apparently 21-year-old Lynsey Nordstrom was hired by The New York Post to head to the Giants/Cowboys game, sit on the 50 yard line, and try to get Romo to screw up. Why Lynsey? She’s a Jessica Simpson look-alike. That’s her in the picture above, posing like Jess wearing a jersey similar to the one Jess wore when she attended a Cowboys game earlier in the football season.
We don’t know whether Tony saw her in the stands, but we do know the Cowboys lost, and Romo didn’t play his best. Does it just take a hint of Jessica to throw a game? I’m betting it’s just coincidence, but the whole thing is hilarious!

Zac Effron does his best Jared Leto impersonation on the cover of Details this month. Why must they make the men on their covers look creepy? Earlier it was Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and now this. I just don’t get it Details. I just don’t get it.
Depending on whose “sources” you ask, either Jennifer Lopez fired or was fired by her manager of a year, Irvin Azoff, over the weekend. Lopez’ camp is saying she let him go without incident on Friday, but his side is telling a completely different story.
If Azoff’s side is to be believed, a combination of poor album sales and husband Marc Anthony’s meddling were responsible for Azoff cutting ties with the singer/actress. After he sent her a letter that expressed in “blunt terms”, there was a heated argument between Lopez’ Azoff’s handlers.
We’ll most likely never know what really happened, and attention will shift pretty quickly to babies after Jenny gives birth, but stories like this make me wonder.
Despite media fascination with the slow decline into crazy that Britney Spears has been on for over a year now, I hate writing about her. I truly think she’s in need of serious help, and it makes me sad that people continue to take advantage of her. Like her new photographer boyfriend, who is still married.
That said, when she goes out cavorting and car shopping with the guy over the weekend in her wedding dress, it has to be mentioned.
I’ve read that her family and friends are trying to get California to re-write it’s laws so that they can have her committed. Currently the laws are on the side of the people who would be committed, and while I can see how that makes sense, in the case of someone who is so completely out of touch with what they truly need (like Britney), they should allow those who love her to step in.
But who would that be, really? Her mom, who sold her out to fame when she was still a tween? Her ex-husband, who is living high off her money? Her new boyfriend or her many assistants, all of whom are on the take? Or Dr. Phil, who so publically and without shame exploited her most recently?
The whole thing makes me sad.
Between November 30 and December 9, Orlando Bloom toured parts of Nepal on a Unicef mission. Pictures are finally coming out of his time there, and they’re super cute. Nepal is just finally starting to rebound from a decade-long civil war, and with the attention celebrity brings to the cause, Unicef has been able to raise money to help the people of Nepal get back on their feet.

If the Grammys happen in a month (and there’s no guarantee they will), Amy Winehouse still ins’t guaranteed a spot on the performance roster. Friends of the troubled singer are telling gossip rags she’ll still have to pass a drug test before the US will grant her a temporary work visa to perform that night!
She’s been on the slow path to recovery, and recent moves on her part have shown she might finally be ready for a change. She’s been visiting her husband less in jail, she dyed her hair blonde (no comments from me on how awful it looks), and she’s been spotted around London with her father, who is championing her sobriety. There is also word from her camp that she’s drastically cut down her drug use. All good things. But that won’t be enough to get her into the country to perform, so she’d better step up on her clean-up if she wants to make it into the Grammys.
So the rumors ended up being true. Christina Aguilera’s reps are finally admitting to what we all knew already … she had her baby on Saturday! However, when we all thought she’d had him (on Friday), she was still in labor. Born at 10pm, little Max weighed in at just over 6 lb. No word as to when they’re leaving the hospital, when we’ll get to see pics, and if Christina is still planning on being in that movie with Katie Holmes. I wonder if she was in labor from when we all thought she was having her baby until she actually did. If she was, that baby better be the best baby on the planet, because that’s one long-ass labor!
It’s good Max and little Harlow don’t have to share a birthday, because with diva moms these kids are sure to have plenty of diva-fits in their futures, and having to share a birthday could have been too much to handle!
OJ Simpson is back in jail after violating his bail “no contact” order. He wasn’t supposed to contact any of the other defendants in the case, apparently, but OJ doesn’t listen to that shit and had his bail bondsman contact one of the defendants. The best part of the whole thing? After making the illegal call for OJ, it was the very same bailbondsman that that revoked the bail, which he has a legal right to do!!!
In more baby news from Friday, Christina Aguilera had her baby boy either just before or just after Nicole Richie had her baby girl. These two will forever be plagued with the same birthday, but hopefully the two mamas will have the sense to have a few joint birthday parties as the two little ones are growing up.
There’s no word yet as to the name or weight or anything of Christina and Jordan’s baby boy, and to be honest we can’t even be sure it was a boy until they announce it. But with all the blue-themed baby showers and calling her baby bump Jordy all the time, my money is on Jordan Bratman, Jr.
Once again, congrats to the happy couple and their little bundle of joy! I can’t wait to see pictures of this kid, but I’m not as sure he’ll be adorable. With a mom who wears that much makeup and a dad who isn’t the most attractive man on the planet, he’s got a 50/50 shot of being either a drag queen or a monkey. I’m so mean!!!
ETA: Now we’re not sure if she’s had the baby yet. Christina’s reps are telling Us Weekly she hasn’t had the baby yet, so who knows what’s up!!!
Nope, that’s not the little baby she had, as Nicole and Joel are the proud parents of a little baby girl! Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born weighing in just over 6 lb yesterday, and was actually taken home the same day! Somehow I don’t get how it’s safe to take home your baby the same day it’s been born, but what do I know. While Harlow wasn’t the only baby born at Cedar’s Sinai yesterday, hers is the first we’ve gotten any information on, so she’s definitely ahead in the celebrity baby race for now. Good for you Harlow! Now we just need to start seeing pictures of your cute little baby face and all will be well. You know that kid’s going to be gorgeous.
Congrats to the family, and here’s hoping little Harlow will be healthy and safe, and start showing her adorable baby face all over Hollywood!

How cute is four month-old Valentina Pinault, daughter of Salma Hayek?! The pair were spotted in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood yesterday, hitting up a few shops and getting in some serious mother/daughter time. I’m such a sucker for celebrity babies, and this one will most definitely be no exception. Actually, I’m a sucker for babes in general, so it’s not just about famous babes. Which makes it somehow seem much better, at least in my mind.
