Okay, so here’s my deal. I get really frustrated with the double standard imposed upon women by the gossip and Hollywood culture. I try my hardest not to play into it, and while I unintentionally slip up sometimes? This must be pointed out.

Really? Now Britney Spears is wasting away???? I have vivid memories of being horrified when people called her fat after she showed up in that horrible black spangly bikini, probably a size 12 at the MOST. Average sized for a woman who has had two kids. Hell, average size for any woman her height, really. But that was UNACCEPTABLE. No one could deal with the fact that she had the gall to show off her normal-size body, unashamed of how she looked.

And now? Now that she has been properly shamed and has started to diet and liposuck her body back into the shape our society demands it be? We are saying she is wasting away.

I’M MORTIFIED.

Despite media fascination with the slow decline into crazy that Britney Spears has been on for over a year now, I hate writing about her. I truly think she’s in need of serious help, and it makes me sad that people continue to take advantage of her. Like her new photographer boyfriend, who is still married.

That said, when she goes out cavorting and car shopping with the guy over the weekend in her wedding dress, it has to be mentioned.

I’ve read that her family and friends are trying to get California to re-write it’s laws so that they can have her committed. Currently the laws are on the side of the people who would be committed, and while I can see how that makes sense, in the case of someone who is so completely out of touch with what they truly need (like Britney), they should allow those who love her to step in.

But who would that be, really? Her mom, who sold her out to fame when she was still a tween? Her ex-husband, who is living high off her money? Her new boyfriend or her many assistants, all of whom are on the take? Or Dr. Phil, who so publically and without shame exploited her most recently?

The whole thing makes me sad.

The last 24-hours in the life of Britney Spears have been full of drama. Let’s see if we can’t recap them, shall we?

First, Britney was scheduled to finally be deposed on Thursday at 9:45am, but didn’t show up until almost 11:30. In a hot pink dress and heels. She then only stayed for less than 20 minutes before leaving. Later she told paparazzi that Kaplan was mean to her.

Later that day, Britney had her scheduled visitiation with her kids. When it came time for them to go back to daddy’s house, Britney apparently refused to release them, and in the end cops, fire trucks, and at least two ambulances were rushed to the house. By 10pm Britney was on a stretcher being taken out of her house, and is currently at Cedars-Sinai, where she will be held for 72 hours for observation.

The drug/alcohol tests came back, however, and both are negative. Now the metric ton of speculation will begin as to what was floating all over Britney’s body chemistry to make her act irrationally enough to be held at the hospital for 72 hours if it wasn’t drugs or alcohol.

To make matters worse for the fallen pop star, Kevin’s lawyers are back in court asking for all of her parental rights to be suspended, which they’ll probably get. Girlfriend’s in the hospital, after all, being psychologically evaluated!

Leave it to Britney to steal the limelight from her little sister. Her pregnant, unwed, super-Christian 16-year-old sister.

That’s right people, Britney wants to have her kids tested for drugs. After not showing up for her deposition and repeatedly ignoring the judge’s rulings, she’s suddenly showing concern for her children. Life & Style says she’s worried Kevin is smoking weed in front of the kids. She claims she’s smelled the pot in their hair and on their clothes when she has them for her custody visits. Now she wants to have them tested for second-hand marijuana smoke (probably by snipping a piece of each child’s hair just after she gets them from Kevin), and if they test positive, Kevin could lose custody as well.

If this happens, who the hell will take care of the kids? We already know Britney’s totally crazy and can’t handle it, and now Lynne has her hands full with her younger daughter’s pregnancy. So who will take care of these two little boys?

This is totally serious, and it makes me so happy. Larry Birkhead wants to date Britney Spears! A close friend of Larry’s told In Touch “Larry has a thing for vulnerable blondes - and no one seems more vulnerable than Britney these days.”

Nice. I guess it sort of makes sense, though. Britney and Anna Nicole Smith have a lot in common: a drug problem, kids that are used for promotional purposes only, and a life filled with scandal from the word go. And if Larry Birkhead has his way, they’ll also have him in common. Awesome. I’m betting Britney won’t think twice before dating him, and I can’t wait for that trainwreck to happen!

Next up on Britney’s list of things to do? Steal the limelight from her little sister.

Not that anyone’s suprised, but Kevin Federline’s lawyer is taking action after Britney Spears was too sick to show up in court but had no problem heading out to party that evening. And this time it won’t be pretty for Britney or her lawyers. Rumor has it he’s going to ask that all her custody priveledges be suspended until she testifies, and that Kevin not have to give his deposition until hers is finished. This will not only stall the custody battle completely, it will prove pretty clearly how much she does or does not want to be around her children.

My guess if this happens? Britney will still wait at least two weeks before showing up to give her deposition, thus proving she really doesn’t care about her children.

Poor Britney. She was denied entrance to the Four Seasons the other night! Now where is she supposed to sleep? She clearly only uses her homes as daycare spots when she’s got her two sons with her, so she needs to find a new hotel to take her in STAT!

Say it ain’t so! It looks like Britney Spears is in talks to rekindle her acting career. As the Virgin Mary. I really hope this is a joke, because as creepy as it was to have a 14-year-old play the mother of Jesus (and then get pregnant!), it’ll be super ridiculous for Britney to play this role.

The name of the movie? Sweet Baby Jesus.

I hope for everyone’s sake this is a rumor, because if not? I might boycot movies all together!

Another day, another hotel for Britney Spears. Here she’s seen pulling up to the Four Seasons Saturday night with her dog. Which dog? Who knows. And why do we even care that she’s pulling up to a hotel again? We don’t really. I just am still amazed that this girl has two homes in the LA area and yet spends every moment her sons aren’t with her either at a hotel or a Starbucks. Must be nice to be that rich that you only need to be home when your court-appointed monitor is watching.

Despite her court-mandated drug/alcohol testing and “no drinking up to twelve hours before spending time with your children” mandates, it would seem Britney got all sorts of drunk while celebrating her 26th birthday over the weekend. and not only did she get hammered, she might have drunk dialed her ex!

Not Justin. Not any of the numerous playboys she’s spent time with since her (second) divorce. Nope, this drunk dial was reserved for her baby-daddy, Kevin Federline!

The rumor mill is reporting she was having so much fun she wanted to include him, and called begging him to come out. With Paris’ cell phone, because she couldn’t find hers! Kevin reportedly reminded her that one of them had to be with their kids (because apparently nannies don’t do overnight duty), which made her so mad she hung up on him.

The next day? Court-scheduled mommy-time. Nice.

Although Britney’s been in talks with Rolling Stone to appear on the cover of the magazine in a future month, the talks have ended with Britney pulling out of the deal. She pulled out of the deal after Rolling Stone wouldn’t promise her pictures would definitely be on Rolling Stone instead of ending up on the cover of Us Weekly (something similar happened to Nick Lachey recently). Britney’s looking to revamp her image, remind people she’s a serious musician, and a Rolling Stone cover is her answer to that.

I’m just going to say that if she wants to be taken seriously as an artist, maybe showing up to public events looking like she does in the picture above isn’t a good idea. And maybe she should get her life together (and/or get it out of the tabloids) so that people think there’s something to think is revamped. But that’s just me.

She celebrated it in “style”, as turning 26 when you’re twice divorced and with two kids is a hard thing to accomplish by that age! The thing that surprises me is how it looks like no one but her “cousin” and her non-baby daddy showed up. Oh, and Paris Hilton for like ten seconds. Poor girl … four years ago her party would have been the biggest event of the season. Must be so sad to be at the bottom of the Hollywood popularity rung like that. If she even realizes it!
