Holiday Sweaters From Julia Roberts

When you hear that Julia Roberts is sending handknit sweaters to Johnny Depp’s two children (Lily-Rose -8- and Jack -5-), what’s your first thought? Mine was, “aw! How sweet!” followed closely by “do they even know each other?”

Turns out the sweaters weren’t just your run of the mill holiday presents, but a bid for a movie role of some sort! While Johnny Depp has stayed one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, taking off a few years to be a mom didn’t do as much for Julia’s career as she’d hoped it would, and now she’s desperate for some good movie roles. And working with Johnny Depp seems like a good option to her I guess, because with the sweaters she included a note that said how much she’d love to work with him.

I just don’t know that I buy this story. Julia’s worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, and I can’t imagine she’d do something like that to get a movie role. She’s never seemed desperate to me, and while she may have made them sweaters (she does love to knit!), a desperate plea for a movie role doesn’t seem her style. For now I’m filing this one under “definitely not”.
