Kiefer Sutherland And His Four DUIs
It seems that Kiefer Sutherland actually has four DUIs on record. The first DUI charge was issued in 1988 when he was also cited for carrying a concealed weapon. The second charge came in 1989 and the the third in 1993. Of course the fourth happened early Tuesday morning.
Although Sutherland has at least four DUI charges to his name, CelebTV.com legal expert Royal Oakes says the ‘89 and ‘93 charges might not hurt Sutherland in court.
“The good news for Kiefer is that the old ones might not matter so much,” says Oakes. “Mandatory jail time is for back-to-back charges. Otherwise, the system kicks in to favor alcohol treatment, not jail.”
Huh. So you can have four DUIs and they don’t throw your sorry ass in jail? Has he even been to jail for one of these incidents? He’s been endangering the public for nearly 20 years. Somethings gotta give, rehab, jail something. Clearly he’s got a serious problem, a 20-year-old problem.

Why is it that in “normal” circumstances, three becomes a felony and results in mandatory jail time. Do we really have to hold our entertainers to such high regard that the laws don’t need to apply? Great that he’s going to be sentenced to 48 days, too bad that due to overcrowding and “good behavior”, he’ll probably serve little to none. While the Average Joe in the next cell (with an average, tax paying job) will get to sit there for the entire sentence. See how much Paris Hilton has changed? Yeah. Every person I know would be scared of a felony. How it looks to an employer, your friends, family. Scared of what you’ll do for the rest of your life, because it SHOULD be that big of a deal. I guess that it’s not if you’ve got a job as an entertainer, you’ll always have someone willing to hire you, and it’s just as common to have some legal trouble in your closet. What a sham.
