Regis To Transition Off Show

by

Amidst rumors of failing heath, Regis Philbin has announced that starting next year he will move to hosting only three days a week, asking guest hosts to fill in on Thursdays and Fridays. I’m betting the guest-hosting thing won’t last long, and they’ll find a regular replacement soon.

He’s been doing this show (with a variety of co-hosts) for so many years, it’s good for him that he’s going to take a break. And it’ll be fun to see who gets brought on as guest hosts and an eventual replacement. But it’s sad for fans, both of the show and of the man himself, to see him start to transition out.

Here’s hoping it’s not a health issue, and instead is simply a matter of wanting to have more “me time” now that he’s getting a little older.
