Shocking Death Of Heath Ledger At 28
By now most of us know the sad news that Heath Ledger was found dead in his NYC apartment yesterday afternoon. While details are still sketchy, and rumors are already starting to fly, what we do know is this.
Heath, 28, died leaving behind a world that loved him. He is surivived by his two-year-old daughter Matilda (with ex-fiance Michelle Williams), and his family had the unfortunate experience of finding out about this thanks to the media.
He was an amazing actor, taking on challenges from the beginning, and defying stereotypes. A teen hearthrob thanks to movies like “10 Things I Hate About You” and “A Knight’s Tale”, Heath stretched our views of him with roles such as his most well-known, Ennis in “Brokeback Mountain”. He had just finished filming “Dark Knight” and was back and forth to London filming “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus”.
And so we are here, writing an obituary of sorts, still in shock that this is even real. He definitely wasn’t one of the celebrities you would have thought twice about dying young. There are already others in the 451 network that are writing their thoughts on this (Brad Pitt Watch has a great statement up), and I’m obviously throwing in my feelings now. And barring any shocking new news regarding his death, I’m going to try to stay away from the media hoopla that will inevitably follow. I will post no pictures from the funeral, as that is a private time for family and friends.
Feel free to jump in on this discussion in the comments, however, adding news as it becomes available. If there’s enough of it, I’ll do another summary post tomorrow. For now, enjoy some photos from Heath’s life.
